That's me standing on the left in a photograph taken in 1964. I'd been playing guitar for about a year and never dreamed it would become my livelihood and take me to so many different places...
I purchased my first serious camera in 1969, a Canon SLR. A few friends and I
started a photo club and shared tips and ideas. In 1972 the band I was with toured Alaska for seven weeks. I had borrowed a friends Pentax SLR for the trip and managed to capture some great shots using only the camera's standard 50mm F1:8 lens.
After Alaska the band flew to Japan where we based ourselves in Tokyo for three months and did a series of concerts and TV/Radio appearances in Korea, Okinawa,
Taiwan, The Philippines, and Guam. While in Tokyo, I purchased the latest Canon
offering at that time - the Canon A1 SLR. It had all the bells and whistles and cost
about a third of the price of one sold stateside! With the money I saved I bought three
extra lens to go with the supplied 50mm F1:4 lens - a 28mm, a 100mm and a 200mm.
That's how it all started....
